Jackson withdraws bid for Trumbull administrator after commissioners object

WARREN

Richard Jackson, Trumbull County human resources director since October 2016, has withdrawn from consideration for county administrator.

Jackson angered county commissioner Mauro Cantalamessa last week when Cantalamessa learned Jackson, who wrote the job description for the county administrator position, had decided to seek the position himself.

Jackson said today he would withdraw “to relieve any appearance of impropriety.”

Cantalamessa said today he especially objected to Jackson informing Commissioner Dan Polivka that Jackson was seeking the position before telling Cantalamessa.

One of the key jobs of a county administrator will be to communicate with all of the commissioners, and Jackson didn’t do that in this instance, Cantalamessa said.

Polivka said he thought that “ethically [Jackson] shouldn’t have written the job description” if he was going to apply for the job himself.
