Trooper of the Year

The Hiram Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has selected Trooper Lewis R. Finsen, a Youngstown native, as the 2017 Trooper of the Year at the Hiram Post.

The selection of Finsen is in recognition of outstanding service this year at the Hiram Post. Fellow Hiram Post troopers chose Finsen based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Finsen is in contention for the district and state Trooper of the Year awards to be announced at a later date.

Finsen joined the patrol in 1999. Originally from Youngstown, he is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Other patrol awards he has received are Hiram Post Trooper of the Year in 2005 and 2007 and Warren District Trooper of the Year in 2005.

Finsen lives with his wife, Christine, in Mahoning County, and they have five children.
