In fiscal year 2017 (Oct. 1, 2016, to Sept. 30, 2017) there were 23,729 overnight stays from men, 11,690 stays from women and 5,731 stays from children.
That makes for a total of 41,150 overnight stays, up from a total of 28,503 stays in fiscal year 2011 – about one client being admitted every 6.5 hours. The mission provided 43,498 stays to men, women and children in 2016, according to the mission’s website.
If you know someone who is homeless or at risk for being homeless, he or she can dial 211 and be connected to several local resources through the Help Network. These resources are also listed online. The network can also help someone get access to housing or shelters.
