Guilty plea in tampering case
WARREN
Tina M. Davis, 34, of Stillwagon Road, Howland, pleaded guilty Thursday to tampering with evidence in the officer-involved shooting of Richard N. Latimer, 34, of Mines Road in Howland.
Davis was charged for her actions Feb. 7 when Latimer went to her house shortly after killing Van Blevins, 44, of Weathersfield Township.
Latimer told Davis he had just shot someone and needed to change his clothes. Davis went with Latimer to the Dollar General store on East Market Street for paper towels and bleach.
When Latimer was shot by Howland police about 9:30 p.m., he was using Davis’ black Monte Carlo. She also loaned Latimer the gun earlier that day that investigators say Latimer used to kill Blevins. Latimer had that gun in his hand when police killed him later. Davis will be sentenced later.
Charges in crash
NORTH JACKSON
State troopers expect charges in a crash that occurred late Wednesday night involving two tractor-trailers.
About 11 p.m. Wednesday, a tractor-trailer lost control and traveled off the right side of Interstate 76, striking a guard rail, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Moments after the driver left the truck, another tractor-trailer struck the trailer of the truck that hit the guardrail, pushing the trailer into the driver.
The driver of the first truck had nonlife-threatening injuries, and the second driver sustained severe injuries, state troopers said.
Troopers plan to charge the second driver for failing to maintain a safe distance.
