YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band and The Stambaugh Chorus will team up for the seventh annual Holiday Concert Of Giving at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The concert raises funds for Second Harvest Food Bank. Guests can bring donations by cash or check of any amount, which will be collected at the door. No food items will be collected at this concert.

To date, the concert has raised nearly $24,000 for the food bank.

The Stambaugh Chorus, directed by Hae-Jong Lee, and the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band, conducted by Joseph G. Pellegrini, are made up of Valley residents from age 15 to 88.

The 90-minute program will feature sacred and secular Christmas music in many different styles. Selections by the chorus will include “Oratorio De Noel” by Camille Saint-Saens, “Te Deum” by John Ritter and “The Many Moods of Christmas, Suite III” by J. S. Bach.

All of the music played by the YACCB will be from either movies or the stage, such as: “The Polar Express” and “The Nutcracker,” to name a few.

In the grand finale, both groups will perform together “Christmas On Broadway” and the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s “Messiah.”

Second Harvest Food Bank can convert each $1 collected into $11 worth of food, which it will distribute to the needy.
