Youngstown

The Youngstown State University has created the Lambert Peterson Jr. Scholarship to enhance the YSU Athletics Scholarship Endowment Fund.

This scholarship was established this fall by his three sons — former YSU football players — Andre, Mike and Vince Peterson who all three were part of the program in the 1980s.

The scholarship is named for their father, Lambert, who worked construction and was a role model for his three sons and many others in their hometown of Warren.

Angels’ Ohtani has elbow issue

LOS ANGELES

A recent physical has shown that Los Angeles Angels pitcher and hitter Shohei Ohtani has a damaged ulnar collateral ligament, Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday night. While the injury is not considered serious, further damage could necesitate Tommy John surgery.

Angels general manager John Eppler said that the results of the test were consistent with a pitcher his age.

Ohtani was signed for $2.3 million, plus a $20 million posting fee.
