YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a man on probation for a heroin trafficking conviction was arrested Monday at Fifth Avenue and Commerce Street on drug charges.

Kevin Carver, 41, of Emerson Place, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in municipal court on a second degree felony charge of possession of heroin and possession of drugs.

In Ohio, the degree of felony for drug charges is determined by the weight of drugs found with the most severe charge a first degree felony.

Reports said Carver was a passenger in a car pulled over about 6:30 p.m. for an improper turn. The owner gave consent to search the car and Carver was searched because of a heavy scent of marijuana, reports said.

An officer found the heroin, two pills and marijuana in a bag in Carver's buttocks, reports said.

Carver is presently in the Mahoning County jail.
