2 jump from roof to escape North Side fire

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire officials said two people inside a burning Halleck Avenue home early today jumped off the roof to escape the flames, then walked away before firefighters could question them.

Crews were called to the North Side home about 12:25 a.m. and found flames on the first floor. The two people inside were on the second floor when flames broke out and they jumped from the roof there, reports said.

Damage is listed at $4,000. Reports listed the cause as under investigation. There were no injuries.
