AUCTIONS

The Junior Group of Goodwill Auction and Jewelry Sale is set for Feb. 16 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. It will include Goodwill collectible jewelry, silent auction of fine jewelry and collectibles, vintage clothing, basket raffle, 50-50 raffle, basket auction, hors d’oeuvres, pastries and cash bar. CRAFT SHOWS

St. Anne Ukrainian Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, is the location of a Dessert Walk and Craft Show that will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church hall. The event will be hosted by the To Make Someone Smile Group. Cookies, pies, cakes, kolachi, pumpkin rolls, clothespins, soup and dip mixes, crafters and more will be available. Admission is free. Tables are $35 for an 8-foot table with chairs. A portion of the proceeds benefits needy children for Christmas. DANCES

Niles Friendly Squares will offer square dance lessons from Jan. 9 through April at the Niles S.C.O.P.E. Center, 14 E. State St. An introductory session will be given from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 9. Sessions are designed to cover steps in the basic square dance program. Gene Hammond will be the instructor. There is a fee of $6 per lesson. FUNDRAISERS

Austintown Band Parents will host the third annual Jazz & Dessert event at 6 p.m. Jan. 27, at the middle school, 900-1104 S. Raccoon Road. Area amateur and professional bakers will compete to win Best of Show and Best Display awards while the middle school, high school and alumni jazz bands perform under the direction of Jeremy McClaine, Wesley O’Connor and Marc Puypino. Admission is $5 per person and includes 10 dessert samples. Beverages also will be available for purchase. Each baker will provide a finished product for a bakery auction in addition to samples. Stambaugh Charter Academy, 2420 Donald Ave., Youngstown, will host a benefit spaghetti dinner from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday to raise money for fellow educator, Erin Boucher, who is battling cancer. This event is takeout-only and costs $5 per meal. There also will be a bucket auction and 50-50 raffle. Tickets are four for $5 and 10 for $10. Food and baskets were donated by Boucher’s coworkers. Trumbull County Republican Party will host a Christmas fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 19 at Greene Eagle Winery, 2576 Davis Peck Road, Cortland. Youngstown Area Community Concert Band and the Stambaugh Chorus, will present the seventh annual Holiday Concert of Giving at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. The concert raises funds for the Second Harvest Food Bank with cash or check donations to be collected at the door. No food item donations will be accepted. This 90-minute program will feature sacred and secular Christmas music.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently-used clothing for the entire family. December’s sale includes a large inventory of men’s clothing and dress shirts in packaging at 50 percent off; ladies sweaters, sweatshirts, slacks and jeans are $2; and all men’s and women’s coats are 50 percent off. SPECIAL EVENTS

Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., is sponsoring “Memories of Christmas Past” through Jan. 7. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and noon to 7 p.m. Thursdays. The museum is closed Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens 65 and older and college students and $5 for children ages 3 to 18 (under 3 admitted for free). Dr. Jessica Reiter and Jason Kunkle are sponsoring a donation box drive until Saturday and request nonperishable foods and unwrapped toys. Drop off locations are Dr. Reiter’s office, 1450 S. All donations benefit Akron Children’s Hospital and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. Those taking donations will receive free pictures with Santa from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Party On location in Niles. Monetary donations will be accepted only during Santa’s visit.

Sutliff Museum, 444 Mahoning Ave., Warren, has a new exhibit that will be open to the public through January. The exhibit is “Musicians and Scholars: the Dana Family of Warren, Ohio.” It explores the origin of the Dana family, through the relationship of Dana to the Sutliff family through Mrs. Phebe Lord Martin Sutliff. Youngstown Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. will offer its Kwanzaa Festivities and Showcase at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave., from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The theme is FOCUS: Families Organized Creating Unified Success. The event will include a meal, Kwanzaa drummers, display tables highlighting the group’s achievements and an opportunity to ask questions. Participants are asked to take donations of diapers of all sizes to benefit the Barbara M. Wick Transitional House. Those who take donations will be entered to win a raffle item. Other needed donations include sheet sets, slippers, comforters, stationery, detergent, bath soap, cleaning spray, light bulbs, envelopes, cold medicine, toothpaste, dish cloths/towels, pots, pans, dishes, eating utensils and dish soap. TRIPS AND TOURS

Junior League of Youngstown will host a trip from Youngstown to New York City April 13 to April 15. The discount price is $139 per person, if paid in full by Dec. 31, and $149 per person after. Tickets are available until March 14 and payment plans will be accepted but must be paid in full by March 14. Tickets are transferable if unable to attend. No cash refunds will be issued. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
