Trial starts today in case of man accused in 2016 stabbing death

YOUNGSTOWN — Opening statements began before Judge Maureen Sweeney today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the trial of a 28-year-old man charged in the stabbing death of a man in his Palmer Avenue home.

Wallace Lewis, 28, is charged with murder in the Aug. 10, 2016, stabbing death of Howard Ramey, who was found two days later in the basement of his Palmer Avenue home.

Two co-defendants of Lewis are expected to testify on behalf of the prosecution during the trial, prosecutors said.
