FOOTBALL PEYTON REMISH South Range defense

One of Peyton Remish’s favorite moments this season came in Canal Fulton when his South Range High School football team celebrated a regional championship.

“It was an exciting moment, we were all just jumping around, hugging,” the linebacker/running back said.

“I love playing,” said Remish, who added that he releases pent-up emotion delivering big hits.

The Raiders won their first 13 games to win Division V, Region 17. In the state semifinal game, South Range lost to Pemberville Eastwood, 21-7.

He called the community support “awesome. On the bus ride there, we had escorts and people lined up along the road.”

Remish made 151 tackles, including 34 for a loss. On offense, he rushed for 1,754 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.

“I feel like I’ve always been better at defense,” Remish said. “I feel like I have a nose to the ball and it just comes a little easier for me.”

Remish said the 13-1 season “is one none of us will ever forget. Not many teams are able to say they made the state semis. ”

Remish said replacing the Raiders’ old Inter-Tri County League rivals with the likes of Akron Manchester and Sharon made the schedule harder.

“Last year, it wasn’t as hard to recover from the games that we played,” Remish said. “This year, we were taking some beatings on Friday — all the teams were really physical.”

Remish wants to continue playing in college, but he hasn’t decided where. Sports science, physical therapy or athletic training are majors he’s considering.
