Trumbull commissioners approve pay raises for deputies

A new three-year contract for 48 deputies, sergeants and lieutenants at the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office will pay them 55 cents more per hour the first and second years and 48 cents per hour the third.
The raises work out to a pay increase of about 3 percent more per year the first two years and 2.6 percent the third year for deputies.
The raises will cost the county about $55,000 more per year in the first and second years and $48,000 more in the third year.
The county commissioners approved the agreement at their regular meeting Wednesday.
Sergeants and lieutenants will see their hourly wage rise 62 cents and 69 cents respectively the first two years. Their pay will rise 54 cents and 60 cents per hour, respectively, in the third year.
The contract is retroactive to July 1 and ends June 30, 2019.
The new wage scale raises the hourly rate for deputies with one year of experience from $17.67 per hour under the old contract to $19.25 per hour in the third year of the new contract.
It raises the wage of a sergeant from $25.32 per hour under the old contract to $27.10 per hour in the third year of the new contract.
It raises the wage of a lieutenant from $28.49 per hour in the old contract to $30.48 per hour in the third year of the new contract.
