CRAIG BEACH

Craig Beach Police Chief Andrew Soloman was arrested and charged Thursday night with one misdemeanor count of dereliction of duty after the village administration building was searched by law-enforcement agencies.

Soloman was booked about 7:40 p.m. at the Mahoning County jail and released on bond, a Mahoning County deputy sheriff said.

The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, reported that the Ohio Attorney General’s Office said Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation personnel were involved in Soloman’s arrest at the village center.

The AG’s office said Soloman was charged with dereliction of duty, but a spokesman, Dan Tierney, would not provide details about the charge.

Craig Beach Mayor Dave Spencer said deputies from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and BCI arrived at the village administration building and told him they were there to conduct an investigation, according to 21 WFMJ-TV.

The mayor said he does not know what the agents were looking for or where they searched.

Also, Maj. Jeff Allen of the sheriff’s office said there is an additional investigation that has been ongoing for several weeks. He declined to provide details.

Spencer said village council will discuss what is to be done about the leadership of the police department at its meeting next week.
