Company notifies public about new injection wells in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD

Highland Field Services began notifying the public Wednesday through legal ads that it has applied to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for permission to drill three more injection wells near the Wyngate Manor manufactured-home community.

The site is off state Route 7 and Merwin Chase Road north of the center of Brookfield. Injection wells force wastewater from the oil and gas industry deep underground as a means of disposal.

Highland already has permission to drill two injection wells at the site but still needs ODNR permission before it can drill three more.

The legal ads instruct interested parties wishing to comment or object to the three proposed additional wells to direct comments to the ODNR within 15 calendar days of the final legal notice.

Highland says its proposed well will inject into the Knox through Rome Formations at a depth of 7,600 to 8,750 feet. The average injection is estimated to be 5,000 barrels per day. The maximum injection pressure is estimated to be 1,750 psi.
