UPDATE | Five of eight juvenile runaways back at Trumbull Children Services

WARREN

All but three of the eight juveniles who ran away from their residence at Trumbull County Chilren Services Monday night have either returned or been returned by family members, Tim Schaffner, Children Services executive director, said today.

The juveniles left the facility about 7:15 p.m. Monday after one of them pulled the fire alarm, which allowed the locked doors of the facility to open, according to a Warren police report.

The facility, which is located on Reeves Road Northeast, reported eight of the youths who left — two males and six females — were still missing as of about 8:35 p.m. Monday.

A second report said one girl had run away from the facility Monday, returned, then pulled the fire alarm. The report said charges would be filed against her.

Schaffner said none of the children who left are considered dangerous to themselves or others because that type of child is not eligible to stay in the CSB residential facility.

He added that the facility is not allowed to stop a child from leaving the facility unless they are a danger to themselves or others.
