Veterans transition to life as students

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University Veterans Resource Center, 633 Wick Ave., recently presented a roundtable discussion with student veterans to glean feedback on their experiences navigating the higher education system and transitioning to civilian life.

Director Chip Tansill of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services and Chancellor John Carey of the Ohio Department of Higher Education hosted the roundtable and were members of the panel. The panel also included Patrick Williams, Youngstown State University Veterans Affairs Coordinator; Youngstown State University student veterans; Pamela Johnson, Eastern Gateway Community College student veteran; and Marlise Barker, Eastern Gateway Community College Coordinator of Student Loans.

This roundtable is one of many sessions that Tansill and Carey host around the state to uncover ways to better serve Ohio’s student veterans.
