Wish-list giveaway

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Rodney Hill of Associates in Women’s Health recently announced his Santa’s Wish List giveaway.

This is an opportunity for families to send in a wish list, with the chance of winning holiday gifts for children. Only one family will win, and each child in that family will get the gifts that are on the wish list they sent to Dr. Hill.

Dr. Hill has been having his Santa’s Wish List giveaway for four years.

Patients and nonpatients are eligible to enter the Santa’s Wish List giveaway. To enter, mail the children’s wish lists to the Associates in Women’s Health office at 1350 Fifth Ave., Suite 324. You can also email Dr. Hill the wish list at askthedoctor@aiwhealth.com.

Firefighter grants

YOUNGSTOWN

Thirty-three Ohio fire departments will share $331,112 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation under a new program to reduce firefighters’ exposure to toxic environmental elements.

The fire departments receive the funding under BWC’s Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Grant Program, which provides $2 million a year to help departments purchase safety gear and equipment designed to protect firefighters from carcinogens and other harmful elements encountered during a fire fight.

Local fire departments that received grants are: Austintown, $6,812.50 to purchase 55 sets of washable gloves and five barrier hoods; and Bazetta, $9,495.83 to purchase an extractor/washer, 25 sets of washable gloves and 25 barrier hoods.

Stamp prices

WASHINGTON

Seeking to bolster the ailing U.S. Postal Service, federal regulators are moving to allow bigger jumps to stamp prices beyond the rate of inflation. That could eventually add millions more dollars to companies’ shipping rates and consumer costs. The Postal Regulatory Commission has announced the decision as part of a much-anticipated, 10-year review of the Postal Service’s stamp rates.
