Members of the Mahoning County Drug Task Force and Struthers police raided a Moore Street home where a man and a woman were cooking suspected methamphetamine with two children present, age 4 and 8, said Sgt. Larry McLaughlin of the drug task force.
Arrested were Mandy Hale, 36, the mother of the children, and her boyfriend, Jeffrey Westcott, 51, McLaughlin said.
Children services was called to the scene.
The raid was the result of a two-month investigation.
Park to assist with calls from Santa
BOarDMAN
Boardman Park will be assisting Santa with a direct line from the North Pole to the Boardman community. Parents who would like their children, age 3 to 8, to receive a phone call from Santa can pick up a form at the Boardman Park office, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, or it can be downloaded from the website, www.boardmanpark.com. Completed forms should be returned to the park office or faxed to 330-726-4562. Deadline is Dec. 8.
Since this is a busy time for Santa, he will have time for only one phone call to each family. It’s very important that participants are home during their scheduled time. There is no fee for the phone call. Calls will be made from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 and 13.
Trumbull Art Gallery to have open house
WARREN
Trumbull Art Gallery, 162 N. Park Ave., will host an open house and holiday market from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Meet local artists and see their creations. The TAG Gift Shop and Gallery also will be open to browse. There also will be book-signing sessions.
Local author Margaret Chiarella will present her children’s book “Joisey Boyds: The Battle for the Jersey Shore Territory,” illustrated by local artist Rick Muccio. Author D.A. Schafer also will present her book, “Don Drumm: The Sculpture-Designer Craftsman,” on Friday.
There will be a book raffle at 3:30 p.m. The event also will feature raffles, music and treats.
Warren to present Christmas event
WARREN
The city of Warren, along with volunteers, area businesses, organizations and individuals have joined together to present Christmas in the Square from 5 to 8 p.m. today downtown.
The event will feature trolley stops around Courthouse Square, a cookie walk, photos with Santa and live entertainment.
