YWCA Youngstown receives $5,000 grant from Finnegan Foundation
YOUNGSTOWN
YWCA Youngstown received a $5,000 grant from the John D. Finnegan Foundation for its newest housing project.
The five-unit property on Kensington Avenue is addressing the need for affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families and veteran families at risk of homelessness. Additionally, the project is helping to eradicate blight and increase safety for the citizens who reside in this neighborhood.
This housing program is for families at or below 60 percent of area median income, at risk of homelessness, and have an income. Preference is being given to veterans. One unit is designed for full accessibility, including a wheelchair-accessible kitchen and bathroom. Other accessible features include wide doorways and halls, accessible kitchen counters and cabinetry, roll-in showers, easy to reach light switches, and no steps or barriers to entry.
YWCA, through its housing, youth development, and empowerment programs, is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. To learn more about YWCA, visit ywca.org/youngstown.
