Hurricane Harvey hurts another Vindicator

LIBERTY COUNTY, TEXAS

A Vindicator namesake in Liberty County, Texas, reports that it is having a rough week.

Located near the Trinity River, the weekly publication had to close Monday due to hazardous weather conditions caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Managing Editor Casey Stinnett said there is a lot of street flooding and county-wide evacuations.

Because of the conditions, Stinnett reported the usual Thursday print publication will only be available online.

On Monday the Liberty County Vindicator reported: “There is a very good chance this week’s newspaper will have to come out a day late, on Friday instead of Thursday, depending on how the weather goes.”

“The problem is our printing press in down in Texas City,” Stinnett said.

The Weather Channel reported two deaths and overwhelmingly high water in Galveston County, which Texas City resides in.

Water levels may also reach an all-time high for the Trinity River, Stinnett added.
