“American Ripper” (10 p.m., History): It’s the final episode of this limited series that sets out to prove that H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer, and the notorious London killer Jack the Ripper were the same person.

Air Force brass ensemble to play at Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN

Heritage Brass, a 10-piece symphonic brass ensemble that is part of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, will present a free concert Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The pioneering ensemble brings military tradition to the concert stage with a program that is both exhilarating and intimate. Although the show is free, tickets must be obtained. Tickets will be held at Will Call unless a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided, or mailed for a fee of $2. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There is a limit of six tickets per order. This performance is sponsored by Stambaugh Auditorium and The Vindicator. Heritage Brass will play patriotic favorites, jazz standards and new compositions. The ensemble is dedicated to inspiring our nation and honoring our veterans.

Chris Young gives $100K for disaster

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

Country music star Chris Young is donating $100,000 for disaster relief efforts in Texas. Young lived in Arlington, Texas, before signing with RCA records and has family and close friends in Hurricane Harvey’s path.

Young’s donation through his foundation will benefit the Red Cross and other disaster-relief groups. He says during tough times, “you turn to your friends to help those in need, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.” He asked others to join his fundraising effort.

Young is a native of Murfreesboro, about 25 miles southeast of Nashville. He will headline a concert at the Canfield Fair on Monday; for tickets, go to ticketmaster.com.
