Air Show will have Cleveland rockin’

High-Energy aerobatic performances will rock the Cleveland National Air Show Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 2, 3 & 4) at Burke Lakefront Airport in downtown Cleveland. The weekend will be headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and will include ground-based attractions including Shockwave Jet Truck, EAA Spirit of Aviation and Go Army interactive exhibits, with more than 30 display aircrafts.

The Shockwave Jet Truck is a triple jet-engine truck that currently holds the Guinness World Record for top jet-truck speed at 376 mph.

The show will display aircraft including military, vintage and commercial planes. Visitors will have the chance to go inside the planes. Some of the military display aircrafts that will be there include a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules, U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II, U.S. Navy MH-53E Sea Dragon, U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook and Canadian CP-140 Aurora and more.

Also on display will be two historical aircrafts – a WWII B-25 Mitchell Bomber and a C-123 know is the “Thunderpig.”

Run The World Race set for Sept. 9

On September 9, the Run the World 5K will take place at Kent State University (https://www.kent.edu/RunTheWorld). The race is a fundraiser for the Run the World Fund, which provides scholarships for study abroad programs through the university.

An International Festival will take place in downtown Kent after the race from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Scheduled are live multicultural performances, including Sho-Jo-Ji Japanese dancers and more, at the Dan Smith Community Park. Many downtown businesses will participate in a Passport Excursion, offering activities and food/beverage samples from the countries they choose to represent during the event.
