Children engaged in an Engineering Extravaganza at the different libraries in the Public Library of Mahoning County and Youngstown system.

Anyone who is in kindergarten through second grade had the chance to test out their building and design skills at different stations set up around the library. There were Dominoes, Q-BA-Mazes, Zoobs and other items that were put out that helped the children be creative with science.

The children would create different structures that could survive challenges. Some of the stations included building a structure out of playing cards, building a boat out of foil that floats and see how many marbles it can hold without sinking and more.

The engineering extravaganza was designed to teach children about using science in a fun and entertaining way. The children had to be creative and try out different things when they were designing their structures to see what holds up the best.

The other upcoming Engineering Extravaganza programs will be in Struthers, Poland, Boardman and Brownlee. The times and dates can be found on www.libraryvisit.org.
