Members from the Youngstown Embroiderer’s Guild hosted their monthly program at the Poland library on July 19.

The members helped the guests who attended the program make pin cushions. There were stencils provided along with the different materials that were needed to complete the project. There were three different designs the guests could choose from for their pin cushion. Guests had their choice of making a tulip, a butterfly or a daisy design.

“The object of it is to keep needlework going. It’s a dying craft and we are trying to keep people interested and wanting to do it,” said member Sue Robinson.

The monthly programs bring in around 30-50 each time who come to learn and work on their needlework. Those who attend share their love of needlework with each other and share the projects they are working on. There is a different project for every program.

The Youngstown Embroiderer’s Guild meets every fourth Tuesday of the month from January to November. They meet at the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Canfield at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., which involves a general meeting and a program.

“It’s a way to meet people and share your love of needlework and different types of needlework,” said Robinson.
