Emergency personnel worked Tuesday night to rescue a fishing boat that appeared to be stranded at Lake Milton, the Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV News reports.

A spokesman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said late Tuesday it is unknown if there are people in the boat.

Arby’s robbed

Township police are investigating an armed robbery in which fast-food restaurant employees were held at gunpoint, according to a police report.

Responding with township police to Arby’s on Youngstown-Poland Road at about 5 a.m. Saturday were Poland Village, Struthers and Youngstown police.

An Arby’s manager told them a man held her and two other employees at gunpoint, forced her to open the store safe and then put the money from the safe in a bag, according to the report.

The man left through a back door and ran away on foot, employees said.

Murder arraignments

YOUNGSTOWN

A man and woman accused of killing a woman found shot to death in her SUV on the city’s West Side were arraigned Tuesday morning in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Dashonti Baker and Barraya Hickson, both 24 and of Youngstown, face charges of aggravated murder and murder. Hickson also faces a charge of obstructing justice, and Baker faces a charge of illegal possession of a firearm.

The charges are tied to the death of Rae’venna Faircloth-Thomas who was found in the SUV on Oneta Street in June.

The case will be heard Sept. 5 by Judge Lou A. D’Apolito.

Firearms stolen

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a shotgun, an AR-15 rifle and a thousand rounds each of 9mm and 5.65mm ammunition were taken late Sunday night from a home in the 2400 block of Cooper Street.

The homeowner told police he came home at about 11:30 p.m. and found his South Side house broken into. Other items also were taken.

The victim said he had been having a dispute with someone. Police said it looked like someone moved an air conditioner from a window to get inside.

Robber jumps in car

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man told police someone jumped in his car at about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday as he was driving on Hillman Street, pulled a gun and took $500 from him. The man told police the robber jumped out of his car at Florida and Zedaker avenues.

Adoption fundraiser

Northeast Ohio Adoption Services will have an event from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rise Pies at 439 Boardman- Poland Road in the Shops of Boardman Park and at 2200 Niles Cortland Road in the Eastwood Mall Complex. Road reopens

Trumbull County Engineer’s Office announced that Carson Salt Springs Road in the village reopened Tuesday. It had been closed since mid-July.

Liberty tailgate party

K-12 students and their families are welcome to attend a tailgate party from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in the high school cafeteria, 1 Leopard Way, before the 7 p.m. season opener against Struthers High School. Tailgate tickets are $1 per person and include food. Tickets will be sold at all open houses, school offices and district events before the tailgate. 9/11 Park closed

The 9/11 Memorial Park, 1051 S. Raccoon Road, will be closed this morning to Friday morning to pave the parking lot.
