Neonatal intensive care unit reunion planned

BOARDMAN

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is hosting a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) reunion from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Beeghly campus behind Building C. The event, during which children and young adults who have “graduated” from the NICU can participate in carnival-style games and kid-friendly activities, is free and open to anyone with a connection to the NICU. The Handel’s ice cream truck will provide refreshments.

New this year, parents and loved ones of former NICU patients can leave thank-you notes to the staff members and nurses who helped care for their babies in the NICU.

“This event will help us spread the word about the great work Akron Children’s does,” said Allison Oltmann, chairwoman of the NICU reunion and a member of the Family Action Collaborative Team (FACT) Group, which coordinates the event.

Attendees are asked to register before the event by visiting akronchildrens.org/nicureunion.
