Young professionals mixer at Magic Tree

BOARDMAN

The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will have its August mixer Thursday at Magic Tree Pub & Eatery, 7463 South Ave.

The mixer, which takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., will feature an interactive philanthropic activity in partnership with Making Kids Count. Attendees will make comfort blankets and care kits for foster care children.

In the spirit of philanthropy, entrance is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. If attendees bring back-to-school supplies, entrance is free.

Small Wonders coming to MCCTC

CANFIELD

Small Wonders Discovery and Learning Center, a daycare center and preschool with three locations in Columbiana County, will open a branch in Mahoning County at a new location in Canfield.

The location is inside the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, taking over a space that has long had child-care services within and outside the school.

The Canfield center will care for children ages 6 weeks to kindergarten-ready.

Gas prices in Northeast Ohio dropped by a penny this week to $2.275 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

The average price of gas this week in Youngstown is $2.226.

The average price of gas in Northeast Ohio during the week of Aug. 7 was $2.286, and the average price during the week of Aug. 15, 2016, was $2.085.
