2 men shot in car

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating after two men were shot early Sunday.

The shooting happened as two men were sitting in a parked car in the 500 block of Mistletoe Avenue, according to police.

Police said someone fired several shots at the vehicle about 1 a.m., then drove away and crashed into a utility pole. The driver then ran off on foot and got away.

Police also found a .40-caliber handgun nearby at the Newport Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

Both men were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, with one man in critical condition and another man considered to be stable.

Chaney High School will host an orientation program for all new and returning students from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Students are encouraged to stop by to hear a brief presentation by Chaney’s new administrative team, ask questions and tour the building.
