Thiel College professor published in journal

Brian Bradshaw, assistant professor of computer science at Thiel College, Greenville, Pa., was published recently in a leading multimedia information systems peer-reviewed journal.

Bradshaw’s article, “A Case Study: How Are The Multimedia Technology Being Used by The Casino Gaming Industry,” was published in The Journal of Multimedia Information Systems.

The journal publishes papers on state-of-the-art multimedia information-processing systems.

Theoretical research contributions presenting new techniques, concepts or analyses; reports on experiences and experiments of implementation and application of theories; and tutorials on new technologies and trends are considered for the quarterly journal.

National recognition

Members of a Youngstown State University women’s mathematics group won national recognition for their efforts to mentor students and promote mathematics on campus in the 2016-17 academic year.

Twelve students representing the YSU Association for Women in Mathematics student chapter accepted the AWM’s inaugural Professional Development Award at the national organization’s MathFest Conference in Chicago on July 28.

Mooney graduate receives awards

G. Byron Charles Abrigg, a 2013 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a summa cum laude graduate of St. Louis University’s John Cook School of Business Excellence, received several prestigious awards from the school, including the Most Outstanding Student Leader from the Dean’s Student Advisory Board.

Abrigg is employed by Stadia Ventures in St. Louis and is a member of the John Cook School of Business Alumni Engagement Board.

He is the son of Byron and Jody Abrigg of Canfield.

PH.D

Altman receives Ph.D.

Max A. Altman, formerly of Youngstown, has received his Ph.D. in educational policy and administration from the University of Michigan’s School of Education. He is the son of Neil and Denise Altman.

Altman graduated in 2005 from Chaney High School as valedictorian. Among his many awards during his high school years was receiving the Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Award for the state of Ohio.

In 2009, Altman earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

He is married to the former Katherine Steiner from Maumee. The couple has relocated to Oahu, Hawaii, where Altman is employed as a researcher for McREL International, an educational consulting organization. His wife is enrolled at the University of Hawaii seeking a master’s degree in directing.
