Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a special program “A Virtual Reality Tour of the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem” presented by Dr. Tim Crain at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at the center, Evergreen Road. It is sponsored by the Rev. George Balasko as part of the Annual Nostra Aetate Lecture Series.

Dr. Crain will lead a virtual tour of the museum for those unable to travel there and will explore why we need to remember. Refreshments will follow. Free-will offerings will be accepted and pre-registration is requested by calling 724-964-8886 or visiting www.vmesc.org.

Crash on SR 11 north

VIENNA

Two people suffered minor injuries in a two-car crash about 5:30 p.m. Saturday on state Route 11 near King-Graves Road, according to the Trumbull County 911 Center.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post, the vehicles were northbound on Route 11 when one struck the other, causing both to go off the road and strike trees. One man was sent to a hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries, and another person was trapped in a vehicle for a period of time, according to authorities.

The OSHP is investigating the crash. Charges had not been filed as of 8:30 p.m.

School supplies

NEWTON falls

Newton Falls Police Department and Newton Falls High School cheerleaders will collect school supplies for students, teachers and classrooms in need.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Family Dollar, 221 Milton Blvd.

The effort will focus on items such as notebooks, three-ring binders, pencils, pens, folders, glue sticks, highlighters, colored pencils, markers, Crayons, rulers, calculators, backpacks, composition notebooks, pencil pouches, note cards, glue, scissors, tissues, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, binder dividers, construction paper and erasers.

Hubbard Friends of the Library will travel to Eastwood Field at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 to watch the Mahoning Valley Scrappers play the Batavia Muckdogs. Contact President Bonnie Viele at 330-534-1394 to reserve a seat and make arrangements to carpool. The outing is free for members and their families.

14 women artists receive awards YOUNGSTOWN

Fourteen female artists were awarded over $2,000 in prizes in the 35th annual Women Artists: A Celebration juried exhibition. Margo Miller, chairwoman of the art department at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, selected the award winners from the 130 artworks accepted into the show. Local, regional and national artists 18 and olderentered paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and metal work.
