Recent criminal activity in Liberty.
Aug. 5
Assault: A Church Hill Road man reported that while walking on state Route 304, two men got out of a vehicle then punched his head and face. Charges were pending against the Niles men, 19 and 20.
Arrest: After pulling him over on Belmont Avenue, police took Charles Maurer into custody on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Maurer, 44, of Church Hill Road, Girard, refused to submit to a breath-analysis test, a report said.
Aggravated menacing: A Holly Drive man alleged another man pointed a gun at the accuser in an effort to intimidate him.
Arrest: Aaron L. Archer, 41, of Tomilu Drive, Girard, faced a felony count of operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near Belmont Avenue. Archer, who refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, has five OVI convictions dating to 2001, a report showed.
Aug. 6
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed Curtis McKinnon, no age given, to township authorities. McKinnon, of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a township warrant charging domestic violence.
Aug. 7
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Shiloh Full Gospel Church, 1310 Shannon Road, via a front window before police found a hole in a glass-block window. It was undetermined if anything had been stolen.
Arrest: Lorenzo Carter Sr., 53, of West Dewey Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested during a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue. He was wanted on a city warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Identity theft: An Orchard Avenue woman told police her bank informed the accuser that her debit card had been used without consent at a Niles discount store, which resulted in a $56 charge for the unauthorized transaction.
Damage: A tractor-trailer reportedly turned around in a parking lot that belongs to an East Liberty Street chiropractor’s office and did $500 in damage to a driveway gate before leaving.
Criminal damaging: A Logan Gate Road woman alleged an upstairs neighbor, 32, knocked on and intentionally placed a hole in her apartment door. Damage was estimated at $250.
Aug. 8
Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up Heather Church, 29, of Rutledge Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Girard Municipal Court.
Arrest: Austintown authorities handed to township police Amanda L. Paolone, 23, who was wanted on a warrant accusing the Pendleton, S.C., woman of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Damage: A Euclid Boulevard woman alleged a Niles company threw away and damaged much of her property and many of her personal items while she was in the process of moving.
Arrest: Girard police relinquished custody of Sherry A. Wieder, 44, to Liberty authorities. Wieder, who listed Girard addresses on Townsend and West Wilson avenues, was wanted on two Girard Municipal Court warrants.
Aug. 9
Possible overdose: A man reported a friend had taken 10 pills, evidently in an effort to overdose. A short time later, the friend was found passed out and disoriented on a sidewalk next to a Goldie Road church, though he was unable to tell police what he had taken, a report said.
