Twins 9, Tigers 4

DETROIT

Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario homered and drove in three runs each as the Minnesota Twins extended their winning streak to six games with a victory over the Detroit Tigers. Twins starter Kyle Gibson allowed three runs, five hits and two walks in 42/3 innings, departing one out before he was eligible for the win.

Yankees 5, Red Sox 4

NEW YORK

Aaron Hicks awoke a dormant offense with a two-run homer that sparked a five-run eighth inning, then threw out a runner at third in the ninth inning to help Aroldis Chapman get out of trouble, and the New York Yankees rallied to beat the Red Sox. Chapman walked the bases loaded with no outs in the ninth. Andrew Benintendi hit a sacrifice fly that Hicks caught in front of the left-field warning track, making a one-hop throw to third baseman Todd Frazier, who tagged out Eduardo Nunez trying to advance from second. Mitch Moreland flied out to end it, giving Chapman his 15th save in 18 chances.

White Sox 6, Royals 3

CHICAGO

Tim Anderson hit a two-run homer to cap a four-run, seventh-inning rally, Reynaldo Lopez pitched six strong innings in his White Sox debut and Chicago won its fourth straight over the sliding Kansas City Royals. Adam Engel’s second triple of the game drove in the tiebreaking run in the seventh. Yolmer Sanchez had two RBIs and Kevan Smith doubled in a run as the AL-worst White Sox kept rolling following a three-game sweep of league-leading Houston. Aaron Bummer (1-2) pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth to earn his first major league win.

Rangers 6, Astros 4

ARLINGTON

Cole Hamels pitched seven scoreless innings, Elvis Andrus scored each time after his three hits and the Texas Rangers beat the Houston Astros. Hamels (7-1) limited the Astros to three singles only six days after the lefty’s complete game against Minnesota. Two-time defending AL West champion Texas is still 151/2 games back and is fourth in the division.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Mets 7, Phillies 6

PHILADELPHIA

Amed Rosario’s first career homer broke a tie leading off the ninth inning, Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Conforto also went deep and the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies. After Cesar Hernandez hit a tying, solo homer in the eighth off Jerry Blevins, Rosario connected off Phillies closer Hector Neris (4-5) to cap a three-hit night. The rookie shortstop entered the game batting .161 (5 for 31). Hansel Robles (7-3) got the final two outs in the eighth and AJ Ramos finished for his 22nd save in 24 chances. Mets starter Seth Lugo gave up five runs and eight hits, striking out a career-best eight in 51/3 innings.

Marlins 6, Rockies 3.

MIAMI

Giancarlo Stanton hit his Major League-leading 40th home run as the Miami Marlins beat the Colorado Rockies. Derek Dietrich hit a tie-breaking bloop single to spark a three-run eighth inning to help the Marlins take the lead. Junichi Tazawa (2-2) tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the victory and Brad Ziegler pitched the ninth to record his third save in six chances.

Cardinals 8, Braves 5

ST. LOUIS

Paul DeJong had two doubles with three RBIs and Randal Grichuk tripled and drove in two as the surging St. Louis Cardinals held off the Atlanta Braves. Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright (12-5) went five innings and retired the final eight batters he saw after pitching out of a no-out, bases loaded jam in the third. Kolten Wong, Matt Carpenter and DeJong each had an RBI double as the Cardinals sent nine batters to the plate in a four-run second inning. Grichuk started a two-run rally in the third with an RBI triple and scored on a single by Wainwright.

Reds 11, Brewers 10

MILWAUKEE

Zack Cozart and Eugenio Suarez had three hits and drove in two runs each, as the Cincinnati Reds built an early eight-run lead and then held on for avictory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds built a 10-2 lead through four innings, but the Brewers scored seven times in the sixth to make it a game. A solo home run by Tucker Barnhart in the seventh increased Cincinnati’s lead to 11-9. Reds starter Homer Bailey (4-6) bounced back from allowing 10 runs over 31/3 innings in a loss to St. Louis on Aug. 6.
