Township continues work with city annexation
Staff report
CANFIELD
Township trustees this week discussed slated annexations, particularly the one pending for the Lanterman-Bitonte property.
State Rep. John Boccieri of Poland, D-59th, stopped by at the meeting Tuesday and said he would look into the annexation’s possible effects on the township.
MALA Properties’ 22-acre parcel and the nearly 19 acre Lanterman-Bitonte property are township properties on Palmyra Road in the process of being annexed to the city of Canfield.
In another matter, trustees approved road resurfacing in conjunction with Austintown and Boardman, and the township’s share will not exceed $66,442.
The township contracted with Butch & McCree Paving of Hillsville, Pa., to resurface Orlando Drive, Pin Oak Lane and Williamsburg Drive, with completion predicted for mid-September.
Ohio Turnpike-funded erosion-mitigation work on Mercedes Place development also is projected to be completed by mid-September. The turnpike gave the township a grant of $144,359 for the job.
Trustees submitted an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission for storm sewer and road improvement for Starrs Centre Drive. Trustee Chairman Brian Governor said the project’s estimated cost is $208,726. If the commission approves the funding, the project would be slated for 2018.
