Kyle Busch wins Xfinity Zippo 200

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.

Kyle Busch won the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen International on Saturday, recovering from a spinout and a pit road penalty.

Busch topped the Penske Racing duo of Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski and easily beat them on a restart with three laps to go for his 90th series win.

Logano was second in his bid to win this race for the third straight time from the pole and Keselowski was third, followed by Justin Allgaier and Paul Menard.

Busch started second, quickly passed Logano for the lead and led the first 16 laps before wheel-hopping and spinning out on the first turn of lap 17. He also was penalized for running through too many pit boxes during the second stage of the 82-lap race.

Gatlin, Coleman beat Bolt at worlds

LONDON

Usain Bolt was no longer stunning. He was just stunned.

At the end of a career in which he has dominated his sport for a decade, Bolt was beaten in his final 100-meter race by an American almost five years his senior — Justin Gatlin.

Calling it quits at the age of 30 and looking for a golden farewell in his last individual race at the world championships, Bolt lost to a man who produced a comeback not only on Saturday but also through a doping-tainted career.

In a tight finish, Bolt was punished for his slow start and Gatlin fought back to nip everyone at the line in 9.92 seconds. Christian Coleman took silver in 9.94 seconds while Bolt got bronze in 9.95.

49ers’ LB Smith injured in practice

SANTA CLARA, Calif.

The San Francisco 49ers are concerned linebacker Malcolm Smith, one of the team’s most coveted additions in free agency, might have suffered a significant injury Saturday during practice inside Levi’s Stadium.

Smith, 28, left the field during full-team drills with an apparent upper body injury after working with the starters throughout training camp next to All-Pro NaVorro Bowman in the new-look defense.

Smith, the MVP of Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning team in the 2013 season, was brought in by San Francisco on a five-year contract in March.
