Chamber schedules a mayoral forum

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Government Affairs Council will have a mayoral forum from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. Aug. 15 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

The city will have a new mayor in 2018. While one candidate has emerged from the primary nominating process, three others have filed as independent candidates.

Driver Appreciation Days at Truck World

Truck World recently announced its annual Driver Appreciation Days taking place Wednesday through Friday. Serving customers since 1971, Truck World wants to thank its customers.

The three-day event will feature daily contests, giveaways and complimentary lunches for CDL licensed drivers from 1 to 4 p.m. each day at Truck World, 6985 Truck World Blvd.

There will be bands playing from 5 to 9 p.m. every night during the event, and Friday, the main event, Boogaloo Cajun Fest, will take place.

Also on Friday, truckers can show off their rides at Truck World’s annual Head Turner Truck Contest with a grand prize of $1,000 cash. All classes welcome. Registration is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and judging is from 2 to 4 p.m. Register at the fuel desk or online at Truckworldinc.com.

Tool tracks success of workforce programs

The Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation has launched Ohio’s Workforce Success Measures Dashboard, a new interactive tool to allow Ohio’s policymakers to measure the success of Ohio’s largest workforce development programs.

Policymakers and Ohioans alike can use the new Workforce Success Measures Dashboard to see statewide, county and provider level data on the number of Ohioans completing workforce transformation programs.

Shale conference set

PITTSBURGH

Shale Insight, a Shale Coalition Conference, will take place Sept. 27-28 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The conference will feature public-private dialogue on shale development.

The keynote luncheon speaker is Sara Ortwein, president of XTO Energy, a subsidiary of the ExxonMobil Corp. She will share her perspectives on emerging innovations in energy development, infrastructure, and manufacturing in the Appalachian Basin and in the world.
