Center gets grant

GIRARD

The Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation awarded a $6,250 grant to the Girard Multi-Generational Center for its new fitness stretch plus program. The center will offer its new fitness classes five days a week beginning Aug. 7. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, classes will be at 9:30 a.m. The Tuesday and Thursday classes will be at 1:15 p.m.

Healthy snacks will be provided following each class. The stretching exercises are designed to increase strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. The center will also purchase an additional treadmill for the fitness rooms at the center.

The fitness rooms open every day at 8:30 a.m. and close on Mondays and Fridays at 4 p.m., and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

The grant will also cover center membership costs for individuals who demonstrate a financial hardship. Memberships are $10 per year for city residents and $50 per year for nonresidents.
