Man at Trump rally files a complaint

YOUNGSTOWN

A man ejected from a July 25 rally at the Covelli Centre who was demonstrating against President Donald Trump has filed an excessive use-of-force complaint with the city police department.

Video shows the man, who was in the crowd at the rally, being taken out by police. One officer has his hands near the person’s throat. The video has been circulated across the country.

Staff Inspector Lt. Brian Butler, head of the department’s Internal Affairs Division, said he would not name the officer involved or the person who made the complaint because the case is an open investigation. He said that information will be available when the case is closed.

Butler said the man filed the complaint Wednesday.
