KIRKLAND, WASH.

KaiLi Gross pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight as Poland, representing the Central region, breezed past Southwest and into the semifinals of the Junior League World Series. Gross also led Poland at the plate by going 3 for 4. Camyrn Lattanzio had two hits, including a run-scoring triple. Lexi Diaz, Jackie Grisdale and Maddie Rinehart also added RBI singles to help the offense Poland will face East at 5 p.m. today in a semifinal matchup. The winner will advance to the World Series final.

Three Cities 10, Marlins 9

Marlins scored three runs in the seventh inning, but fell short in the Cleveland Men’s Senior League game. J. Chapin started the game for Marlins. He went two innings, allowing three runs and five hits. He struck out one.

Metro Ice 4, NEO Whoppers 3

A defensive miscue helped Metro Ice win their 11 straight win. IC scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. Joe Sneizik drove in two runs for the Whoppers. JT Taylor earned the win, pitching six innings, surrendering three runs and five hits. He struck out five and walked one. Jake Foster recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Cameron Carson, Nick Zajaczkowski, Nick Charnas, Nick Capogreco and Chris Descalzi had hits. For the Whoppers, Garrett Mulrooney went 2-for-3.

Winning pitcher Noah Laster’s four hits included a triple and two doubles.

Metro Ice 10, NEO Whoppers 4

Metro Ice took the lead with four runs in the second inning. Jared Lee drove in two runs. DJ Morvay earned the win, throwing five innings, He gave up four runs and six hits, and struck out seven. Mark Herron and Nick Zajaczkowski each collected multiple hits for Metro Ice. Lee and Nick Capogreco each drove in two runs. Takese Stubbs stole three bases for Whoppers.

Metro Ice 14, Marlins 0

Matt Schultz earned the win, pitching five innings and surrendering zero runs and four hits. He struck out five and walked one. Metro Ice scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Metro Ice had 17 hits, with Larry Goist, Foster, Herron, Morvay, and Derek Morrison each collected multiple hits. Alex Fitzgerald and Bobby Dulay each collected two hits each for the Marlins.
