Youngstown cop uses Narcan to revive man

YOUNGSTOWN — A city police officer Wednesday evening revived a man passed out in a running car with the opioid-reversal antidote Narcan.

Officers were called about 8:50 p.m. to the 1700 block of Poland Avenue where they found Dominque King of Market Street behind the wheel of a car that was off the road with the car still in drive.

Reports said officers reached inside and put the car in park. Long was unconscious and barely breathing, reports said.

Officer Joe Wess gave Long three doses of Narcan before he woke up. King told police he had recently snorted heroin, reports said.

Officers also found suspected heroin in his car.

King was taken to a hospital and cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

It is the second time within a week Wess has used multiple doses of Narcan to revive someone, a police report said.
