Woman’s body found in pond

Police found a woman’s body in a pond Wednesday morning after what appeared to be a tractor accident.
Officers responded to a call about 8 a.m. to a pond at a residence on the 1300 block of Shannon Road.
Township Police Chief Richard Tisone said he believed the woman was cutting grass while riding a tractor when the tractor fell into the pond.
“It appears to be a most unfortunate accident,” Tisone said.
Police have not yet released the woman’s name, pending notification of family. The official cause of death is under investigation.
Deals for Wheels campaign begins

For the second year, the Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement Agency is having a “deals for your wheels” campaign for Child Support Awareness Month.
It allows absent parents with suspended driver’s licenses to reinstate them for a one-month child support payment plus $1 and an agreement to seek work if unemployed.
The program attempts to increase collections and get money to custodial parents.
Those interested can report to the county’s Job and Family Services Department at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., this month during normal business hours.
Drug charges filed
NILES
City police announced Wednesday a Warren man was charged with four counts of trafficking in drugs after an investigation by city police and the Trumbull Ashtabula Group drug task force.
Jarelle Frederick Johnson, 20, of Southern Boulevard NW, is in the Trumbull County jail and is expected to appear in court Tuesday.
A news release from Niles police said Johnson was arrested after undercover buys of heroin were made from Johnson in a school zone.
Drug paraphernalia
BOARDMAN
A service employee at a township car dealership reported finding suspected drug paraphernalia in a vehicle on which he was working.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Taylor Kia on Market Street about 10 a.m. Tuesday for a drug investigation.
There, the employee told police he was stuck with a hypodermic needle while he was removing a rear seat from the vehicle. The employee also reported finding a suspected crack pipe in the vehicle.
Police took the pipe and the syringe, which was filled with an unknown liquid, as evidence. The employee was advised to go to a hospital for evaluation. The incident is under investigation.
Boccieri office hours

State Rep. John Boccieri of Poland, D-59th, will have public office hours from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ellsworth Township hall, 11125 W. Akron-Canfield Road. His constituents are invited to come meet with Boccieri to discuss state issues.
