KIRKLAND, WASH.

Brooke Bobbey scattered five hits and aided her own cause with a run-scoring double as Poland beat Asia-Pacific 4-2 in the final pool-play game for both teams in the Junior League Softball World Series.

Bobbey pitched a complete game and struck out eight. She also staked Poland — representing the Central Region — to a first-inning lead with her RBI double.

KaiLi Gross had two hits for Poland and Jordyn Olson added a run-scoring double for the locals, who finished pool play with a record of 3-1.

Gross and Jackie Grisdale drove in the other runs for Poland.

Diane Pasco took the loss for Asia-Pacific. She pitched six innings and allowed eight hits and all four runs.

Poland advances to single-elimination play in an eight-team bracket as a No. 2 seed. The locals will face Southwest at 7:45 tonight.

Poland opened tournament play in Kirkland with an 11-0 win over Canada on Sunday. Southeast then beat Poland 3-0 on Monday.

Poland then defeated tournament host Washington District 9 by a final of 4-3 on Tuesday.

In other pool-play finals Wednesday. Southeast beat Canada 6-2, West defeated Latin America 5-3 and East rolled over Europe-Africa 11-0.

East and Southeast each went 4-0 to win their pools.

This is the second consecutive year that Poland reached the international tournament in Kirkland.
