Oklahoma backup QB Robison dismissed

NORMAN, Okla.

Oklahoma backup quarterback Chris Robison has been dismissed from the program for violating team rules.

Coach Lincoln Riley made the announcement in a news release on Wednesday. He did not specify which rule was broken.

Robison, rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout, participated in spring practice after enrolling at Oklahoma in January.

He completed 3 of 5 passes for 49 yards in the spring game, then was arrested for public intoxication hours later.

Oklahoma will be fine. The Sooners bring back Heisman Trophy finalist Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray and Austin Kendall should ably fill the backup roles.

The Sooners will have plenty of time to figure out their backup rotation before the season opener Sept. 2 against Texas-El Paso.

LSU suspends starting OL Maea Teuhema

BATON ROUGE, La.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron says offensive lineman Maea Teuhema has been granted his release from the Tigers’ football program and will transfer to another school.

The end of Teuhema’s LSU career comes hours after Orgeron initially announced on Wednesday that the two-year starter at guard was suspended for “a violation of team rules.”

Earlier this week, Orgeron said Teuhema wasn’t practicing when fall camp opened because of academic reasons.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Teuhema was the projected starter at right guard this season.

Orgeron has named 6-foot-4, 343-pound sophomore Donavaughn Campbell and 6-foot-4, 315-pound sophomore Lloyd Cushenberry as possible replacements.

Jones finished eighth at Pocono.

He is now 150 points behind the cutoff spot for NASCAR’s playoffs heading into Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen.
