MJ says Ball has zero chance to beat him

Michael Jordan finally issued his response to LaVar Ball’s bravado.

“I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged,” Jordan said.

Ball, the outspoken father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, previously said he would beat Jordan in a game of 1-on-1 back in his prime. Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and considered by many the greatest player ever, had held his tongue on a response — at least for a while.

BayAreaHQ.com posted a video Monday of Jordan talking to campers at his summer youth basketball camp in Santa Barbara, Calif.

“You’ve got to understand the source,” Jordan said when asked about Ball. “He played, I think, college. ... maybe? He averaged 2.2 points per game. Really?”

Ball played one season at Washington State.

Brad Nessler slips into Lundquist’s CBS seat

NEW YORK

In many ways, the only thing changing for Brad Nessler is the blazer he will be wearing in the booth.

Nessler is preparing for his first season as the voice of the SEC on CBS, filling the seat held for 17 years by friend Verne Lundquist and returning to the network where he first went national.

His “new” partner is Gary Danielson, whom Nessler worked with for seven years at ESPN and ABC. And Nessler has spent plenty of Saturdays in Southeastern Conference country during a long career calling college football games.

“You know you can’t be Uncle Verne, right?” Nessler, 61, said Tuesday at the CBS offices in Manhattan. “Maybe I’ll be Cousin Ness or something?”

Nessler’s first game will be TCU at Arkansas on Sept. 9.

Ex-Louisville DL faces felony theft charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky.

Former Louisville defensive lineman Chris Williams is scheduled to make an appearance in Jefferson Circuit Court on felony charges of stealing $2,300 from the bank accounts of three teammates.

Cardinals coach Bobby Petrino didn’t elaborate Monday after announcing Williams’ dismissal for violating team rules . The senior had 29 tackles in 11 games last season. Louisville football spokesman Rocco Gasparro said Williams was dismissed after the team was alerted about the April 27 incident. Campus police arrested Williams on June 23.

Williams did not respond to voicemail from The Associated Press.
