Pandora store to open at Eastwood

Niles

A Pandora store is on its way to Eastwood Mall.

By November, a Pandora store will open its doors on a new 1,100-square-foot shop located on Center Court, next to H&M.

Pandora is known for its extensive collection of charm bracelets, and it offers rings, necklaces, pendants and earrings.

The new mall location will be the first standalone Pandora store in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys.

Apple’s next big leap might be into augmented reality

SAN FRANCISCO

Apple’s iPhone may be ready for its next big act – as a springboard into “augmented reality,” a technology that projects lifelike images into real-world settings viewed through a screen.

If you’ve heard about AR at all, it’s most likely because you’ve encountered PokemonGo, in which players wander around neighborhoods trying to capture monsters only they can see on their phones.

Now Apple is hoping to transform the technology from a geeky sideshow into a mass-market phenomenon.

15 states appeal delay of air-quality standards

WASHINGTON

Attorneys general from 15 states and the District of Columbia are suing over the Trump administration’s delay of Obama-era rules reducing emissions of smog-causing air pollutants.

The states have petitioned the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to overturn Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt’s extension of deadlines to comply with the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards.

Senate Dems spell out conditions on tax reform

WASHINGTON

Senate Democrats and independents said Tuesday that upcoming legislation to rewrite the nation’s tax code should ensure the middle class doesn’t pay more and the “top 1 percent” doesn’t pay less.

In a letter to Republican leaders, including President Donald Trump, 45 of the 48 Senate Democratic caucus members said they won’t support any upcoming GOP effort to overhaul the tax system that delivers cuts to the top 1 percent or adds to the government’s $20 trillion debt.

Republicans controlling Congress are gearing up to advance their tax measure this fall, promising to lower rates on businesses and individuals, while clearing out many tax breaks and deductions.

The letter says that Democrats hope to work with Republicans to promote investment and modernize the outdated tax code, but the terms laid out by Democrats are unlikely to tempt Republicans.
