Library seeks architect for new Campbell branch

YOUNGSTOWN — The interim director of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will seek an architect for the library’s future branch in Campbell schools’ proposed Activity, Recreation and Cultural Center.

The library board voted to grant the interim director the authority to request proposals for architectural design services at a special meeting Tuesday morning.

The architect will design the interior of the space, but he or she will also work alongside Campbell’s architect to provide input on the building’s exterior.

Earlier this year, the board voted to lease 3,000 square feet of the facility which plans to include a track, basketball courts and a STEM school in addition to the library branch. Matthew Bowen, superintendent of Campbell City School District, expects the facility to open in the fall of 2019.
