Dominion Energy Ohio is getting customer reports of encounters with people claiming to be Dominion Energy employees who actually do not work for the company. The company has received reports from Youngstown-area customers of scam artists trying to gain access to customers’ homes or trying to pressure prospective victims by claiming natural gas service will be shut off if immediate payment is not received.

If customers have questions about such encounters, they should contact Dominion’s call center at 1-800-362-7557 during business hours. A customer service center representative can verify if the call or email is legitimate, or confirm that one of the company’s employees or contractors is scheduled to work at a customer’s home or business.

Gas price report

Gas prices in Northeast Ohio rose by almost 9 cents this week to $2.276 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

Prices across the Great Lakes and Central States have seen significant movement over the past month. States in the region top the list of largest monthly increases, including Ohio (+20 cents). Over the past week, Ohio (+10 cents) topped the list of largest increases.

Average prices of the unleaded self-service gasoline in Youngstown is $2.18.

Roundtable talk

YOUNGSTOWN

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments will be hosting a roundtable discussion with Smart Growth America and Recast City LLC at Oak Hill Makerspace, 507 Oak Hill Ave. at the Oak Hill Collaborative, regarding the future of small manufacturing in so-called post-industrial cities, focusing on maker spaces, home manufacturing and start-up businesses.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

$12 billion TV deal

SILVER SPRING, Md.

Discovery Communications will buy Scripps Networks for close to $12 billion, tying together two powerful stables of TV shows ranging from Animal Planet to the Food Network.

The deal, announced Monday, puts the combined company in a stronger position to draw more women viewers and to navigate an increasingly chaotic entertainment landscape.

Discovery owns TLC and the Discovery Channel. Scripps owns HGTV and the Travel Channel, among others.

The combined company will house five of the top pay TV networks for women.

DENSO to expand

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.

Auto supplier DENSO is expanding a regional headquarters in Michigan and a satellite office in Ohio.

The Japan-based company announced Monday that $75 million will be used to renovate research and development facilities in Southfield to focus on automotive safety, cybersecurity and autonomous vehicles.

A $500,000 investment will renovate and expand a satellite office in Dublin, Ohio.
