2 boys charged in theft of bicycle

Two Youngstown boys face felony charges in connection with a burglary reported Saturday on Arlene Avenue, according to a police report.
Police were called to the area in reference to a group of boys stealing a bicycle from a garage. Police arrested two of the boys after locating them on Gertrude Avenue.
The suspects are age 11 and 12 and are listed as living at the same address on Cain Street, according to the report.
The 11-year-old was arrested on a burglary charge. The 12-year-old was arrested on a felony complicity charge and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon after police reportedly found a knife on him.
They are in the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center pending a hearing in juvenile court.
School mascots
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown City Schools CEO Krish Mohip will announce a decision about school mascots at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at East High School, 474 Bennington Ave.
The announcement comes after two community meetings last week where members of the public provided input about the schools’ mascots.
Chaney High School’s former mascot name was the Cowboys. East High was known as the Golden Bears, but in 2007 the mascot was changed to the Panthers.
Italian festival begins Wednesday

The 32nd annual Greater Youngstown Italian Festival will be from Wednesday to Sunday in downtown Youngstown.
From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday, a number of live events will occupy these roads, rendering them closed to traffic until midnight Sunday: Federal Street, from Phelps Street to South Avenue; Market Street, from Commerce Street to Boardman Street; Champion Street, from Commerce Street to Boardman Street; and Walnut Street, from Commerce Street to Boardman Street.
The schedule for fireworks at the Market Street bridge Sunday will be as follows: at 1 p.m., the bridge will close to traffic; at 4 p.m., American Fireworks will prepare the launch site; at 10:45 p.m., the show will launch; and at midnight, streets will be swept and reopened.
Meeting canceled
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County commissioners canceled their meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in their hearing room at the county courthouse, 120 Market St.
As of now, the commissioners do not plan to schedule another meeting this week. Next week’s meeting remains scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 10.
