High court admittance

Joanna Garcia, a Boardman High School graduate, was admitted to practice law in the U.S. Supreme Court in March.

Atty. Garcia previously was admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Ohio in November 2013 and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Ohio in December 2013, where she practiced as a civil and criminal trial attorney.

She works at WilmerHale law firm in Washington, which represents clients across a broad range of practice areas, and has offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

She is the daughter of Joe and Mary Jo Lenefonte of Boardman.

HONORS

David Hoch award

Laura Dewberry, Youngstown State University’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership director and Williamson College of Business Administration instructor, was presented the 2017 David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service by Ohio Campus Compact, a nonprofit membership organization made up of 41 Ohio colleges and universities.

The award recognizes Ohio university faculty and staff members for exceptional service and civic engagement.

Recognized as member

Robert Assad Chaibi recently has become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at Youngstown State University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.
