The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have the event “Time Management: An Effective Approach to Creating More Joy in Life” with Chris Jaskiewicz, president of HopeStar LLC, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. May 24 at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.

This program will provide you with suggestions for: organizing; prioritizing; developing and strengthening relationships; and reflection and meditation.

The cost is $25 for members and $40 for nonmembers.

Knitting retreat set at Flaming Ice Cube

The Flaming Ice Cube Bistro and Boutique, 1449 Boardman-Canfield Road, has developed a strong knitting following over the past several years and will now bring in Alasdair Post-Quinn, a nationally recognized knitting designer.

Post-Quinn will be in town to headline the Annual Knitting Retreat hosted by The Flaming Ice Cube May 5-8.

He will have a class from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 6690 Ironwood Blvd. Canfield. A book signing will follow at The Flaming Ice Cube at 4:30 p.m. The class fee is $50.

Taking applications for apprenticeships

Applications will be taken for sheet-metal-worker apprenticeship openings at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall, 200 McClurg Road starting June 5.

Applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. the first Monday of each month.

Applicants must be 17 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.; have the physical ability to do the work; have reliable transportation; and no felony convictions.

Applicants must have a high-school diploma or equivalent; high-school transcripts; and a valid driver’s license when they apply.

A basic aptitude test will be given at the time of the application.

Sweeney partners for Adopt A Palooza

Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC recently announced its partnership for the fifth year with the annual Adopt A Palooza event June 11.

The event will take place at the Lariccia Family Bocce Pavilion inside Boardman Park, 375 Boardman Poland Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Adopt A Palooza is a family friendly community event featuring adoptable pets from local rescues, demonstrations and food.
