AKA Sorority plans "Dancing with the Stars, Penn Ohio Style"

HERMITAGE, PA. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Epsilon Mu Omega Chapter of Youngstown, is hosting “Dancing with the Stars, Penn Ohio Style” at 5 p.m. May 14 at Hickory High School, 640 N. Hermitage Road. Doors will open at 4:30, and gifts will be given at the end to the first 100 mothers who attend.
The event will feature performances by residents of Mercer, Mahoning and Trumbull counties who have taken ballroom dancing lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Boardman.
Performing couples include: Jimmy Hughes, former chief of Youngstown Police Department, and his wife, Juanita; the Rev. Dr. Lewis and Dorothy Macklin; Randy and Michaela Dykes; Gladys McIntosh-Thomas and the Rev. Donald “Soupy” Campbell; Judy Hines and Bill Barnett; and Ryan Mergl and Brook Smith.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students, and can be purchased by calling Deanna Brown at 724-977-4170, or by messaging through the chapter’s website at www.emoaka.com. Tickets also will be available at the door.
Proceeds will go to the sorority’s community outreach programs and scholarships, which benefit students from Mercer, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The chapter has four scholarship students, with two at Ohio State University, one at Slippery Rock University and one at Youngstown State University.
The sorority is a service organization focused on educational enrichment, health promotion, family services, environmental ownership and global impact.
The Youngstown chapter includes residents of Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
